Syllabus
Welcome to 7th Grade Geography. Over the course of the year, we will be learning about various topics throughout geography, economics and government. The students will learn many new skills including how to properly read maps and become active citizens in their community. This course is also designed to teach students about many different cultures from around the world and how each culture interacts with one another.
The five units for this course are as follows:
I. Describing Places
II. Humans Dealing With Limited Resources
III. Modern World Cultures
IV. Purpose and Functions of Government
V. Humans in Cooperation and in Conflict
Grading Policy:
Tests 25% (At least one given per unit)
Quizzes 10% (Given weekly)
Projects 15% (One per quarter)
Classwork 30%
Homework 5%
Notebooks 15% (Checked once a week)
Classroom Supplies:
The following classroom supplies are necessary for you to succeed:
1 School Binder (with separate Social Studies section)
2-3 Black or Blue Pens
2-3 Sharpened Pencils
The following classroom supplies are optional but we will be using these types of items throughout the year:
1 Pack of Colored Pencils or Markers
1 12 inch ruler
1 Calculator
